HOME FOR THE ELDERLY

 One of the special facilities located in Kiryat Sanz is a home for the aged known as the "Shefa Chalm Home for the Elderly". The Home is designated for senior citizens who prefer to spend their golden years in a quiet, calm and peaceful setting, in a pleasant atmosphere, with peace of mind and rest from the worries of daily living. They want to be in good company, in a tranquil place and under medical supervision. The building which houses the Home is clean, attractive and is surrounded by beautiful gardens, providing the residents with a pleasant sitting area which receives a refreshing breeze from the nearby Mediterranean Sea. The Home contains over 100 spacious and warm well-appointed housing units to provide for the residents' needs.   

   Each unit is an individual apartment which includes: a kitchenette, bathroom and lavatory, and an airy, spacious balcony. Meals are cooked in the large, spotless kitchen located in the facility, and courteously served in the beautiful dining room. The kitchen supplies diverse meals, appropriate to the residents' individual needs, including various types of special diets. Residents do not have to leave the premises for their daily prayers, as a lovely shul is housed in the building. A most comfortable lobby is located at the entrance to the building, providing an ideal setting to meet with friends and entertain guests. Torah classes are given for the elderly men and a variety of programs are available for their benefit.   

   Specialized assorted workshops are given for the women residents to help pass the time in a leisurely and pleasurable manner. The women are involved in the hand workshops and take advantage of the many creative projects prepared for them. A registered nurse is on the premises at all hours of the day, and a doctor examines each resident daily. A unique advantage of the Home is its proximity to the Sanz Medical Center, providing medical security for those in need. In addition to all of the above advantages, we mustn't forget the proximity of the Home to the Hassidic community. This closeness contributes greatly to the atmosphere of the place and the spirits of the residents. The Kirya's residents have accepted upon themselves to adopt the childless elderly who have no family. They visit these people on a regular basis and show interest in their condition.
